Innovators who build big ideas are essential to progress.  Of course, innovators must find ways to spread their ideas in order to drive ubiquitous change.

The Power of Pull: How Small Moves, Smartly Made, Can Set Big Things in Motion is a (relatively) new book  that reminded me of another landmark book entitled:

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

Both books contain principles of memetics, communication theory & how little things really do matter in the business of spreading ideas.  I’ve read The Tippling Point (loved this book!), but have not read the Power of Pull yet.

Based on some reviews I’ve read, The Power of Pull might lead us to believe that humanity will figure it all out as small things lead to big things & we continue to progress.

Sadly, we humans will never get it fully right though.  We never have.

I’m looking forward to reading The Power of Pull.  Hatching ideas, spreading ideas–I love this stuff.  Plus, I’m all for a book that’s about igniting new institutions, creating stuff of greater worth & rebooting prosperity

But, I’m also looking for more books concerned with spreading ideas based on truth (probably due to my Gen X worldview).  We (Gen X) are, after all, the first “post-modern,” reality show generation :-).  Now we are the core prime prospect for business books.

Maybe The Power of Pull shifts some of the discussion away from how ideas spread to focus more on why.

In any case, maybe we need to return to the search for truth around ideas (not just how they spread) in an “always-on” idea saturated world?

What do you think?
